The hotel sits in a vibrant area with numerous restaurants, bars, and shops within a few hundred metres. The Royal Palace is an 8-minute walk, while the main shopping street Karl Johans gate is a 4-minute stroll. Public transport is excellent: the National Theatre station (a 2-minute walk) connects to the airport express train and metro lines. Be aware that the City Hall clock chimes every 15 minutes from 7am to midnight, and nearby bars can be noisy on weekends, especially for lower-floor rooms facing the street. Walking to major sights like the ferry terminal, the harbour, and the opera house is easy, making the location ideal for sightseeing without a car.

Room sizes vary significantly: standard rooms are compact and may feel tight for two people with luggage, while Deluxe rooms offer more space. Many rooms have sealed windows for security, which can make the room feel stuffy; air conditioning exists but some units are ineffective. Soundproofing is minimal, with noise from the corridor, neighbouring rooms, and street audible. Bedding comfort is inconsistent-some find the beds comfortable, others report thin mattresses and small pillows. Internal-facing rooms overlook a courtyard but have no view; street-facing rooms have city views but more noise. Family rooms accommodate four with city views. Basic room amenities are limited: no kettle, safe, iron, or hairdryer (hairdryer upon request?). The bathroom has a shower with a sliding door that may not lock. Bring your own toiletries beyond basic soap.

The breakfast is a continental buffet with bread, eggs, fruits, yogurt, and hot options; variety is moderate and replenishment can be slow near closing time. The staff are strict about the ending time. If you prefer a wider selection, many cafés and restaurants are within a few minutes' walk. The hotel's bar, Scandal Plate, is open from 16:00 to 22:00 (23:00 on Saturdays) and offers a cosy lounge atmosphere with cocktails and a grill menu. For an alternative, the area has Indian, sushi, and American grill options within 0.5 km. Note that breakfast is not included and costs 249 NOK per person.

Parking is available in an underground garage for 350 NOK per night, but spaces are very limited-reservation well in advance is recommended. Self check-in kiosks handle arrival and departure; there is no 24-hour reception, so late-night issues may go unresolved. Luggage storage is a self-service room with no attendant; use at your own risk. Housekeeping is limited to towel changes during multi-night stays; room cleaning and bed-making are not done. The property has a lift, CCTV, key card access, and smoke alarms. Air conditioning is present but some reports indicate it does not cool effectively. Business services like fax/photocopying are available for an extra charge. No airport shuttle-take the express train from the airport to National Theatre station, a 2-minute walk from the hotel.
