WOMBAT'S CITY HOSTEL MUNICH WERKSVIERTEL, Munich

The hostel is in the up-and-coming Werksviertel area, a vibrant quarter filled with bars, restaurants, and cultural spots like a circus and a ferris wheel. München Ost Train Station is a 5-10 minute walk, providing direct connections to the city centre, the airport via S-Bahn, and major train routes. While the city centre (Marienplatz, Deutsches Museum) is about a 40-minute walk or a 15-minute tram ride, the neighbourhood itself offers plenty of dining and nightlife options. For quieter surroundings, rooms facing away from the main street are preferable, as the area can be lively late into the night.

Accommodation includes double and twin private rooms as well as 4-, 6-, and 8-bed dormitories. All rooms come with a private bathroom, a shower, and heating. Each bed in the dormitories is equipped with a privacy curtain, a personal safe, a fan, charging ports (including USB), and a reading light. The lockers are built into the bed units, and they are large enough for hand luggage. Soundproofing in the rooms helps reduce noise from the lively bar area and street. The overall feel is modern and clean, though the private rooms are more compact. Some reported noise from the corridors and other guests moving about in the evening.

Breakfast is served from 07:00 to 10:00 as a buffet with breads, pastries, vegetables, cheese, ham, cereals, yogurt, fruit, and a coffee machine. The cost is 6.90-8.90 EUR per person and can be purchased at reception. The ground-floor bar, the Wombar, operates in the evening, offering affordable drinks, and often hosts karaoke, live music, and beer pong. Several restaurants, including a Thai place, are within a 2-minute walk, and the Werksviertel area has a wide selection of dining options. The shared kitchen is well-equipped with a stove, refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, and cooking utensils.

Free leisure options include billiards, evening entertainment, live music performances, and karaoke, all within the hostel. The bar area also hosts happy hours at an additional charge. The Werksviertel neighborhood itself provides plenty of entertainment with a nearby circus, a ferris wheel, and a climbing wall. For guests wanting to relax, the shared lounge and outdoor terrace are available. Board games and puzzles are also on hand.
