9H NINE HOURS AKASAKA, Tokyo

The hotel is a five-minute walk from Akasaka Station, which provides direct metro access to Shibuya, Roppongi, and other key districts. Akasaka Biz Tower Shops & Dining is 300 metres away, and the area is filled with dining options including Itamae Sushi, Szechuan Gaen, and Ponsuke, all within 0.5 km. Narita Airport is reachable via a single transfer from Akasaka Station, while Haneda Airport is 15 km away. Several coin parking lots are available nearby for those arriving by car. The neighborhood is lively in the evenings, with convenience stores and 7-Eleven within walking distance, and the area is considered safe for solo travellers, including women.

Each capsule measures approximately 200 cm x 90 cm, providing enough space for a tall person to sit up and stretch. The mattress is firm and the pillow is comfortable for some, though others find the bed hard. A thin blanket is provided, and the pod has a roll-down curtain rather than a lockable door, so noise from neighbours and movement in the corridor is audible. The sleeping area is a shared dormitory with gender-separated floors; male and female guests cannot be in the same section. Each night, fresh sheets, towels, pajamas, slippers, and a toothbrush set are provided. The sleep-tracking option uses a camera and sensor inside the pod, which produces a whirring noise every few seconds; this feature can be switched off on request. Shampoo, conditioner, and body soap are supplied in the shower rooms. The atmosphere is functional and minimalist, best suited for travellers who plan to be out exploring during the day.

The hotel is focused on providing a place to sleep and freshen up, with no leisure or relaxation areas beyond the small lounge near reception. There is no gym, sauna, or common room for socialising, and the lounge itself is small with limited seating. For exercise, running around the nearby Olympic National Park and Motoakasaka is a popular option. Guests seeking extensive wellness amenities should consider other accommodations, as this property offers only the basic essentials of a capsule hotel.

The hotel provides a lift, daily housekeeping, and 24-hour security with CCTV and key card access. Luggage storage is free and available at reception before check-in and after check-out; suitcases larger than the lockers (33 cm width) can be stored here. A lounge area next to reception offers a few seats and a table, but it is small and often crowded. The building has no wheelchair-accessible rooms, no business centre, and no coin laundry on site, though several laundromats are near Akasaka Station. Reception staff speak both English and Japanese, and self-check-in kiosks are available. No smoking is allowed anywhere on site. Bathroom and locker areas are cleaned daily, though some maintenance concerns regarding cleanliness and mould have been noted. The overall service level is efficient but impersonal, designed for short, practical stays.
