CENTRAL AND BASIC UNIVERSITAT FOR YOUNG HOSTEL, Barcelona

The Ramblas and Boqueria Market are 800 metres away, and Plaça Catalunya is a 10-minute walk. The Gothic Quarter and main attractions are within easy walking distance. El Prat Airport is 30 minutes by public transport - the airport bus stops 800 metres away, and the AeroBus to Plaça Catalunya is also an option. Universitat metro station is under 5 minutes on foot, and night buses run from Ronda Universitat (7 minutes away) every 20 minutes. The area is known for its vibrant nightlife, bars, and restaurants, but noise from the street is common. Car access is impractical as there is no on-site parking and the neighbourhood is pedestrian-friendly.

Room types include singles, twins, and doubles. Some rooms have a balcony (shared bathroom only) or a small enclosed terrace. Most rooms with a private bathroom face an interior patio - street-facing rooms with balconies offer more light but can be noisier. Rooms are compact, basic, and brightly coloured, with free toiletries in private bathrooms. Some rooms have views of the MACBA Museum or the street. There is no air conditioning, heating is limited, and many rooms rely on a fan. Sound insulation is poor - noise from adjoining rooms and the street can disturb light sleepers. Storage is minimal; most rooms lack shelving, desks, or wardrobes, so luggage sits on the floor. Hairdryers are available in shared bathrooms and private bathrooms.

Wi-Fi is free in all areas, though coverage can be inconsistent in some rooms. The property has a self-check-in machine that issues entry codes by WhatsApp ahead of arrival. Reception is staffed between 09:00-14:00 and 22:00-00:00 - outside those hours, contact is via messaging. Luggage storage is available from 12:00 and costs 4€ per item. Towels are provided on arrival (two sets per stay); extra towels cost 2.50€ each. Safety deposit boxes are available for an extra charge. The entrance has multiple security doors and CCTV in common areas. Key access is used throughout. The property does not accept pets or bicycles. Cleaning takes place daily, but housekeeping does not automatically include towel changes or floor cleaning during a stay - these can be requested. No lift is available; rooms may involve stairs.
