About the Hotel

Near John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park

Hotel Details

Location

Situated on a canal at mile marker 100, the hotel is a 55-minute drive south of Miami and within walking distance of shops and restaurants.

The property is located directly on a canal with a marina, providing immediate access to water activities. John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park is 5 km away, and Dolphin Plus Bayside is a 4-minute drive. A variety of restaurants, including Doc's Diner, Dunkin', and Wendy's, are within a 5-10 minute walk along the busy highway. The hotel's location is ideal for those with a car; free on-site parking is included. No airport shuttle is available, but a paid local shuttle from Keys Shuttle connects to Miami and Ft. Lauderdale. The highway can be busy, so crosswalks should be used when walking to nearby amenities.

Accommodation

Rooms are spacious with modern amenities like flat-screen TVs and small refrigerators, but some areas feel dated and require better maintenance.

Guest rooms offer a choice of 1 King or 2 Queen beds, air conditioning, a work desk, a coffee maker, and a private bathroom with a hairdryer. Marina view rooms are recommended for their views of the canal and boat traffic, while pool view rooms offer direct access to the pool area. Bathrooms in older sections of the motel-style buildings are noted as having dated fixtures, low water pressure, and high humidity that can make rooms feel damp. Some rooms have balconies or patios. While many rooms have been updated, the overall property retains a motel layout with external corridors, which can lead to noise from the parking lot and neighboring rooms. For quieter stays, request a room away from the pool and main walkways.

Dining

Three on-site dining options include Bogie's Café for breakfast, Skipper's Dockside for American lunch and dinner, and a poolside Tiki Bar.

Bogie's Café serves continental cuisine in a casual atmosphere and is open daily for breakfast (buffet and à la carte). Breakfast is available at an additional charge. The poolside Tiki Bar is open from 11:00 to 21:00 for drinks, lunch, and dinner, including fish tacos and other tropical fare. Skipper's Dockside is a family-friendly waterfront restaurant offering American cuisine for lunch and dinner with vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and dairy-free options. Kids eat free when an adult orders from the main menu (up to 2 kids per adult, up to 4 kids per party). A common-area microwave is available in the café for guest use.

Wellness and Leisure

The highlight is the pool area with two heated outdoor pools, a hot tub, and a Tiki Bar, all set in tropical landscaping.

Both outdoor pools are open year-round from 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM and are heated. One pool features a waterfall. A large hot tub is also heated. Complimentary sun loungers, beach chairs, and umbrellas are available. The Tiki Bar between the pools serves drinks and food. The property offers free access to a 24-hour fitness center with treadmills, elliptical machines, free weights, and a stationary bicycle. Snorkelling, diving, fishing, and other water activities are available through on-site vendors at the marina, as well as bike tours and evening entertainment (some at an additional cost). There is no spa on-site. The grounds include a picnic area and sun terrace.

Facilities and Services

Free Wi-Fi and parking are included. The hotel offers a 24-hour front desk, business center, laundry, and luggage storage.

Free public parking is available on-site with in/out privileges and no reservation needed. The 24-hour front desk offers express check-in/out, luggage storage, and safety deposit boxes. A 24-hour business center provides printing and copying services. Self-service laundry facilities are located in building 4. Daily housekeeping is provided unless declined. Dry cleaning and ironing services are available for a fee. The hotel is ADA compliant with accessible rooms, parking, and public areas, including a wheelchair-accessible pool. Connecting rooms are available on request, subject to availability. Pets (dogs only, under 11 kg) are permitted with a non-refundable $75 nightly fee per dog, with a maximum of 2 per room.
