HOTEL THB FLORA, Puerto del Carmen (Lanzarote)

The hotel sits in the peaceful upper part of Puerto del Carmen, 5 km from Lanzarote Airport (10 minutes by taxi). The old town and harbour are a 5-10 minute walk downhill, while the main strip and Playa Grande beach are 15-20 minutes on foot. The return walk involves a steep hill, which can be tiring for older visitors or those with pushchairs. A free hotel shuttle runs three times daily to the main strip and beach, and a public bus stop is just 100 m from the entrance. Taxis are also cheap and plentiful (around €4-5 to the centre). Free on-street parking is available on the main road and surrounding streets. Several restaurants and bars are within a 5-minute walk, including La Bamba, Restaurante Casa Jacinto, and The Tapas Tree.

Accommodation is split across two buildings: Flora 1 (reception side, with Junior Suites and some studios) and Flora 2 (across the road, housing all apartments). Studios, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments include a kitchenette with fridge, kettle, stovetop, and microwave; Junior Suites (approx. 30 m2) have a separate lounge, kettle, coffee machine, and mini-fridge but no cooking facilities. All rooms have air conditioning, a private bathroom with shower and free toiletries, a flat-screen TV, a hair dryer, and a kettle. Junior Suites offer balcony or terrace options (first floor with balcony, ground floor with terrace), while all apartments are ground floor with a small terrace. Some Junior Suites have pool or sea views; apartments in Flora 2 may have pool views, though these cannot be guaranteed. Beds are twin singles that can be joined to form a double. Room comfort is generally basic but clean; road-facing rooms may experience traffic noise. The apartment block across the road is quieter but has a deeper pool. A daily cleaning service is provided, and a limited number of accessible Junior Suites are available.

The main buffet restaurant is open for breakfast (08:00-10:30) and dinner (19:00-21:30) daily. Breakfast is a full buffet with a wide variety of hot and cold options, and can be eaten outdoors by the pool. Dinner offers a large buffet selection with themed nights, live cooking, and a chocolate fountain, priced at around €16 per person excluding drinks. The pool bar serves snacks (12:00-18:00) and drinks, with a separate menu for pizzas and other hot dishes. There is also a bar open from 20:00-24:00. An on-site minimarket (open until 23:00) offers drinks, snacks, and basic groceries. The breakfast buffet is noted for its variety, and the restaurant staff are attentive to dietary needs such as coeliac requirements. All-inclusive board was discontinued from May, but half-board options are available.

The main pool area (Flora 1) has a heated oval-shaped pool (22-25°C year-round), a shallow end, and a pool bar; sun beds are locked until 10:00 to prevent early reserving. The second pool (Flora 2) is deeper (1.5-1.9 m) and quieter, but has no snack bar. A separate splash park and children's playground are available for younger kids. The wellness centre offers back and full-body massages (additional charge), a free hammam, a free sauna (currently closed), and a free fitness centre with basic equipment. Daily entertainment includes a kids' club, kids' disco, themed dinner nights, live music, archery, darts, rifle shooting, and bingo. A games room with billiards and table tennis is also available. Free pool/beach towels can be collected from the lifeguard (10:00-18:00). The entire complex is set in leafy gardens with sun terraces and outdoor furniture.

Wi-Fi is free and works reliably in all areas of the hotel, including rooms and the poolside. The 24-hour front desk can assist with car hire, concierge service, and local advice. A paid shuttle service and the free courtesy bus to the main strip are available. Luggage storage is offered for early arrivals or late departures. On-site services include a well-stocked supermarket (items at reasonable prices), a souvenir shop, and laundry (wash €4, dry €3). Safety deposit boxes are available for €3/day. The hotel provides cots on request, and a limited number of wheelchairaccessible Junior Suites are available. Housekeeping is daily, with fresh towels provided; room cleaning includes a thorough tidy but sheets may be changed less frequently unless requested. Check-in time is 15:00, check-out at 12:00.
